Forspring cleaningWhat should be done in the kitchen?
You’ve finished cleaning the rooms, and now it’s time for the kitchen. Put on your gloves and get ready to clean the heart of the home. Spring cleaning has various steps, and each part of the home is part of one of those steps. Cleaning the kitchen is often the hardest part, but don’t worry! With planning and organization, you will get through this stage easily.
Cleaning the dust from the kitchen ceiling
Just like cleaning the rooms, start by removing the dust from the ceiling and then continue cleaning in the kitchen.
First, head to the refrigerator and freezer. Organize the shelves of the refrigerator.Food itemsthat are spoiled or past their expiration date should be thrown away.
Now, take a garbage bag or a trash container, and throw away anything extra or trash as you reach each area in the kitchen. Keep it with you until the end of your kitchen cleaning to avoid clutter on the countertop, which can make your work harder.
If the refrigerator shelves are sticky with food residues, remove the contents and wash them. Then clean and organize the items inside the refrigerator.
To clean the freezer, use a damp cloth as the cold air can interfere with the cleaning process.
Organize the food inside the freezer and, as much as possible, keep meat items in a separate drawer from vegetables and more.
Cleaning inside the cabinets
If you peek inside the cabinets, you will surely find some containers that haven’t been cleaned due to a lack of time and need a good wash. Separate them, wash them in the sink, and then neatly put them back in their place.

Throw away cardboard and plastic food packaging. They are not pretty and take up extra space, and they do not keep food fresh and healthy. Instead, use glass containers for storing dry food.
Check the legumes in the cabinets. Fill up the empty jars with legumes and remove anything unnecessary to save space.
Carefully spring clean the cabinet or drawer where you keep your medicines. Spend a little time decluttering.
Pay attention to these tips for cleaning different types of cabinets.
For cleaning stains, fingerprints, ink, and marker residues, never use harsh substances like bleach, acetone, or industrial alcohol directly, as they can damage the surface of MDF. It’s better to dilute these substances with water before use.
For cleaning metal cabinets, using laundry detergent powders and multi-purpose cleaning sprays can effectively remove stains and grease.
How toclean the stoveduring kitchen spring cleaning
When you open the oven, you’ll face lots of dried spots that need to be cleaned. Here’s how to do it:
In an empty spray bottle, mix one cup of salt, one cup ofbaking sodaand one cup of water, sprinkle it on the interior of the cold oven and let it sit to gradually detach the dirt. Then wipe the inside of the oven with a damp cloth.
If you find the dirt is still not gone, add more baking soda. Avoid spraying the solution on the upper part of the oven door, as it can seep between the double glass. To prevent this, you can cover the open glass areas with a cloth to block water from entering or do it with a cloth instead of a spray bottle. For cleaning your stove top, it’s better to use multi-purpose sprays.

For cleaning tiles, a combination of wet and dry cloths is the best method. If you use cleaning agents for stubborn grease stains, wipe them several times with a damp cloth to avoid dulling the tiles.
Cleaning the grease from the sink
Make a paste using equal parts of powdered salt and baking soda. Then, with the resulting paste and a soft cloth, clean and shine your sink. To remove any lime deposits from washing dishes, you can place a damp cloth or paper towel on the desired spot before bedtime, soak it in vinegar, and wash it in the morning. Alternatively, make a paste fromvinegarand powdered salt and scrub the deposits until they are completely removed. Also, half afresh lemondipped in salt is great for scrubbing and shining a stainless steel sink.
Cleaning and unclogging the dishwasher pipes
For cleaning pipes in the dishwasher that are clogged with grease and leftover food, mix equal parts of baking soda and salt and pour it down the sink hole. Immediately add vinegar to the mix and try to block the drain for a short time. After a while, finish up by pouring in a kettle of boiling water. To prevent drain pipes in the dishwasher from clogging, it’s good to pour a kettle of boiling water inside every now and then or sprinkle a mixture of equal parts salt and baking soda into the sink. Avoid pouring greasy substances and oil down the sink, as this can cause grease build-up in the kitchen’s drain pipes, leading to clogs in your home or those below in other apartments, creating many problems for you and particularly for other neighbors.
It took a lot of time, but it’s finally done. Good job!
