Necessary Materials:
- Thread
- Button
- Scissors
Step One:
First, choose the right thread and button. Some clothes come with spare buttons; you can use these. Thread the needle and cut the thread to a suitable length with scissors, then knot the end. Place the button in its correct position on the clothing, ensuring it’s aligned with the buttonhole.
If your button has fallen off, you can sew the new button in the same spot. Then, from inside the garment, insert the needle through the buttonhole and pull it out so the knot is not visible from the front. Be sure to secure each stitch tightly.

Step Two:
From the front of the garment, insert the needle into the next buttonhole 6 more times. For four-hole buttons, sew the opposite holes in the same way, creating a shape like an equals sign (=). Note that the sewing pattern of one button relates to the others; for example, if the other buttons are sewn in an X shape, follow the same pattern for the missing button.

Step Three:
Pass the needle through the stitches from beneath and tie a secure knot at the back of the fabric. Alternatively, pull the thread so that the knot forms a small loop, then pass the needle through the loop and tighten the knot. To ensure the knot does not come undone, repeat this step again.
