How can water stains on wood be cleaned?

The best way to clean water stains from wood

Have you ever noticed white spots on your wooden table or furniture? You definitely don’t have to live with these stains forever. Instead, you should use the correct methods to get rid of them. In this section ofhousekeeping NamakStay with us as we explain these methods.

Iron

An iron can help you get your work done faster. If a water stain has been on the wood for a few days, you can use the heat from the iron to remove it.

First, prepare the iron; empty the water as having water will make the stain worse. Then place a simple cotton cloth over the stain and turn on the iron, setting it to the lowest temperature. Wait a few minutes for it to warm up; then place it on the cloth, and if the stain remains after a while, repeat the process until it is completely cleaned.

You can also use a hairdryer on a hot setting instead of an iron, holding it over the stained area for about 10 minutes until it is completely cleaned.

Using mayonnaise

If the previous method didn’t work, you can use mayonnaise. The oil in mayonnaise acts like a stain remover for wood and absorbs its moisture. Just apply a small amountof mayonnaiseto a cloth and place it directly on the stains, ensuring it covers the entire stain. Leave it like that overnight; then clean it with a dry cloth, and after a few hours, use a soft cloth to remove any remaining moisture and water stains.

Toothpaste

If the above methods didn’t work, you should try toothpaste. Put some on a clean, soft, old cloth, preferably white, and then rub it on the stain gently to see if it fades.

Then use a soft, small brush to wipe off the toothpaste. Do this for less than a minute to see if the stain has vanished.
